Across Chiloe to Dalcahue.

Chiloe has some ancient forests, but as with much of Chile's woodlands it has been exploited terribly.

They are still using slash and burn as their prefered method of clearing the land for agriculture.

A rustic farm scene on our way into Castro.

A huge plateful of 'Curanto' the traditional Chilote dish.

Curanto is: Fish, mussels, clams, chicken, pork, lamb, beef, pototo, suet dumplings and something else that tasted a little bit like soggy cardboard.
